  2. Landforms of Our Region • Erie has a peninsula.A peninsula is a piece of land that sticks out onto water and has water on three sides.

  3. Major Cities • The city of Erie is on the coastline. • That people can dock so ships carry iron. • Other cities have great lakes but lake Erie. • A lot of people make there living there.

  4. Important Facts • Presque Isle is an important place for birds flying to and from Canada. • The Erie Coastal Plain and the rest of western Pennsylvania used to belong to France. • Lake Erie gets its name from a tribe of native Americans called the Erie. It is the shallow of the great lake. It freezes during the winter.

  5. A Point of Interest This region is so close to Lake Erie it has lake effect. This causes the land around it to rain and snow a lot. It does not get as hot or cold in other parts of the state.
