Who is Rutgers PBL Helping? The Community Blood Council of NJ is located in Ewing Twp. near Trenton. It is a non-profit organization that has been providing blood support for over 40 years to both NJ an PA.
Facts & Requirements • NJ is the lowest state in the nation for blood donors. Only 3% of our population donates and maybe that’s once a year. Blood must be available at the time. • “It would be wonderful to have a 5 day supply on our shelves but we’re lucky to have a 1 day supply on hand. This can force hospitals to postpone or even cancel elective surgeries.” – Community Blood Council of NJ The requirements for donating are: • Healthy individuals between 16-75and weighing at least 120 lbs. can donate. • You must eat within 4 hours of donating.
Scholarship Program • Should we collect 50 units of blood we will get a check for $500. Should we collect 75 units-$750 and 100 units-$1000.
