  1. HAPTIC INTERFACE IN A VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT TO IMPROVE SOCIAL INTERACTION OF AUTISM CHILDREN Kod Projek : UKM-GGPM-ICT-105-2010 Ketua Projek : HASLINA ARSHAD Tarikh Mula Projek : 24/5/2010 Tarikh Tamat Projek : 30/6/2012

  2. Research background This project aims at exploring the techniques, methods and tools used in virtual reality that have the potential of improving the everyday life of an autistic children. It is focused on investigating the types of haptic interface that will help autistic children to improve their social interaction and communication. It will mainly explore the use of the haptic interfaces in an interactive virtual environment as a learning and teaching tools for the rehabilitation of children with autism. Using different types of haptic interfaces, characteristics and behavior of children with autism will be observed with the participation of their teachers and parents. From the responses and feedbacks from the autism children, the most effective haptic interface will be determined. A prototype will be developed to test the effectiveness of the haptic interface and its function that could help them in their social interaction and communication.
