History • Beginner is Adolf Dassler & his brother Rudolf • The name was Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory • The company formally registered as Adidas AG on 18 August 1949 • The name is a portmanteau word from "Adi" ("Adolf") and "Das" ("Dassler") • In 1989 the company was bought by Bernard Tapie • He moved production to Asia • In 1992 he wanted to sell Adidas (he was unable to pay his loan) • In 1993 Adidas was sold to Robert Louis-Dreyfus • In 1994 SOS Children’s Villages became the main beneficiary of Adidas • It corporate headquarters in Germany, Hong Kong, Toronto, Taiwan, England, Japan, Australia and Spain
