CRTI-06-0159TA CRTI # 06-0159TA ADVANCED TECHNICAL CBRNE TRAINING PROGRAM “Operation Maple Leaf” Delivery by: HardPoint Inc Sponsor: CRTI Partnership: RCMP, DRDC Suffield, HardPoint Inc., Ottawa Police Service Start-End: 2008-2010 Funds: $1,000,000 Objectives: The project will create the training component which underlies new Canadian CBRNE response capabilities for Explosive Technicians. The project addresses several CRTI investment priorities i.e. C2 - Directly addresses the development of training packages directed at the S&T and responder communities, E5-Analysis of large scale exercises will stimulate development of management strategies. G3- CBRNE live agent exercises will include forensic cluster members to promote the development of advanced forensic techniques. Technologies: Each course will be delivered twice (once in pilot form and once as a polished training product). This approach provides for incorporating improvements from student feedback and international expert participation during the pilot editions. Deliverables include professional training documentation (a summary of research/needs analysis, course training plans, course material packages and evaluations relative to each course) which will ensure that the courses can continue to be delivered beyond the life of the project. Technicians will be enabled to use new and emerging technologies. • Outputs: • The project will design, develop, and present four new courses as the basis of the new Canadian CBRNE response capability for Explosives Technicians; as follows: • Advanced Electronics/Hand Dismantle Techniques (Electronics) • Live Applications and Technology Transfer Exercises (LATTE) • Radio Frequency Controlled Devices & Electronic Counter Measures (ECM) • Live Agent CBRNE Training for Explosives Technicians (CBRNE LAT) • Impact: • This project will ensure that the technical skills of Canadian explosives technicians are beyond those of terrorists and that they are prepared to counter these threats. The project will provide comprehensive training that is currently unavailable in Canada.
