First things first… Before an effective membership campaign can begin • Evaluate your sisterhood’s readiness Preparation and planning are critical • Develop a plan • Leverage WRJ and your district resources
Take a moment to dream..What would your ideal sisterhood look like? A core group who does all the work, representing just one or two demographics in our temple?
Take a moment to dream..What would your ideal sisterhood look like? A group of women just like me, my friends & friends of my friends. Women I know personally and who I can count on to pitch in whenever something needs to get done?
Take a moment to dream..What would your ideal sisterhood look like? A diverse group of women, some who are my personal friends but even more who are not, all committed to the ideals of Reform Judaism and our temple community, each of whom brings unique talents and perspectives to help make our sisterhood a warm & welcoming community.
Take a moment to dream..What would your ideal sisterhood look like? Good question…
Is your board on board? Ready, willing, and able to support the membership campaign • May need to change the way they “see” sisterhood • Flexible and willing to reach out and engage women in all areas of the temple • Step in and help out with the campaign
The Membership CommitteeKey to the success of membership • Membership chair • Programming chair • Marketing chair • Cross-section of general membership (including someone from your temple board if possible) • Sisterhood president
S.M.A.R.T. GoalsIf you don’t know where you’re going..How do you know when you’ve gotten there? S Specific M Measurable A Agreed Upon R Realistic T Timebound
S.M.A.R.T. GoalsWhat might they look like? • Three targeted ‘meet and greet’ programs between August and November with ten women attending each program and two joining sisterhood • Increase number of members in sisterhood by 2 % next year and 2% again next year
Programs and Events for Membership GrowthPlanning the Membership Campaign • All events are membership events • Create a year-long campaign calendar • Engage clergy, senior staff, and lay leaders
