2. Introduction • CTM Purpose is: • To mobilize organizations who have a commitment to and acting towards, transforming individuals, communities/neighborhoods and nations physically, spiritually, emotionally and socially.

3. WHAT IS TRANSFORMATION • The progressive, ongoing, measurable and supernatural impact of the presence and power of God working in, through and apart from the body of Christ on human society and its structures. • It involves seeking positive change in the whole of human life materially, socially and spiritually, as we recover our true identity as human beings, created in the image of God, and discover our true vocation as productive stewards, faithfully caring for our world and its people.

7. What is Collaboration • Working together to accomplish more then any one person or agency can do alone. • Newer, never before seen opportunities emerge • It requires a Beginners Mind in dealing with all things. • It concentrates on the positive in order to build something new.

9. Difference Between Network and Collaboration • Networking is where organizations talk together and learn what others are doing primarily to help their own organization. • Collaboration is where organizations go beyond talking to actually work together in new and different ways.

10. Why Collaborate • Much more can be accomplished then doing things alone. • It reduces the tendency to reinvent the wheel. • Fewer resources are used more effectively. • It builds real power in the group • It brings results of 40, 50, 100 fold. • It encourages the use of complimentary gifts,

Effective Collaborative Qualities • Powered by a big vision -- larger than any ministry’s ability • Focus on vision first, structure later • Build on relationships of trust & prayer • Set limited, achievable objectives with clear measures for ‘success’ • Take time – realize it’s a process not an event • Have a committed/neutral facilitator or facilitation team who are part prophet, all servant • Communicate actively & share success • Focus on common vision -- celebrate unity in diversity!

Why Collaboratives Fail • Lack of large, clear vision which is widely “owned” by partner ministries and their leaders • Do not take time for prayer together -- building trust and strong relationships • Too focused on structure/organization • Lack of clear goals & limited, specific expectations • Unrealistic expectations regarding time, resources needed, & likely results • Unclear on responsibilities and poor internal/external communications • Unwilling to share success & celebrate unity in diversity

13. Key Element of Lasting Collaboration Trust Key Elements of Lasting Trust • Do we share a common vision? • Do we share common values? • Do we have each other’s best interests at heart? • Are you/am I competent? • Are you/am I reliable? • Are you/am I faithful?

Roadblocks to Collaboration • It’s not our idea – never done it this way before • Real or perceived theological differences • Organizational or leadership pride • Focus on structure rather than on vision • Unwillingness to share success • Fear of what our constituency will think • Fear we will “compromise” our values • Can’t see the value to our vision/mission • Broken relationships/lack of trust

What Will It Cost • Openness: To others, to the potential of working together rather than going it alone • Time: To build and maintain the relationships of trust needed for effective collaboration • Resources: Prayer, time for team participation, money, commitment to joint effort • Vulnerability: Readiness to disclose both strengths and weaknesses of our ministry – join hands with others to accomplish more • Risk: Reduced “control,” dependence on others not directly under your authority, possible security questions

16. VISA Prime Example of Collaboration • In the early 1960s bank cards were introduced by Bank America who sold rights to use, controlled, program and collected fees from other banks • Problem with getting money since cleared through old federal system which took 60 days or more.

17. VISA Prime Example of Collaboration (2) • Banks met as group with a strong commitment to correct the problems through collaboration. • Established steering committee where all members could attend meetings • Established Purpose and Guidelines for their actions

19. What is CTM • Collaborative for Transformational Ministry • Started as a result of Med-Send meeting in 2003 in Thailand on Wholistic Ministry and Transform World Indonesia 2005

Principles on Which CTM Is Based • Have a shared strong commitment to transforming wholistic ministry • Be God focused • Equitably owned and run by all participants with all having the same rights and obligations. • A volunteer steering committee should facilitate the collaborative with everything done by volunteers • It should be capable of constant self-generating modification.

What Is Done In CTM • Global Master Network is operating • There will be multiple sub networks (India) established around the world • www.healthwholeness.net • Established web site has: • Listing of agencies doing wholistic ministry • Chat and Forum by area of interest or geography • Posting of appropriate articles • Connections to other web sites

23. Data Base Established • Programs put their information into the data base so people can • Identify who is doing what type of ministry, where • Then like minded people can connect with each other based on their selected criteria starting the collaborative process.

25. What Else Is Done In CTM • Yearly Worldwide meeting • Country CTM collaborative are being established • Regional/Country meetings held. • Projects maybe under-taken by interested parties to create something new and more powerful then if done alone.

26. What More? CTM • Regular Newsletter will be initiated • The establishment of a study to find Transformational Indicators that measure change. • Networking with other similar networks such as Orality network
