What happens if the North doesn’t win a battle soon??? • The South might gain the support of European nations such as England. • Northern citizens might grow weary of the war and elect Democratic politicians who would make peace with the South. • The South will be recognized with as a separate nation.

Lincoln’s Plan Set the slaves free in order to weaken the Southern economy But……. The North has to win a battle first so Lincoln frees the slaves from a position of power and doesn’t seem desperate.
