  2. Adam’s Birthplace and Birthday • On February 20, 1902 Ansel Adams was born in San Francisco. • His parents were Charles Hitchcock Adams and Olive Bray Adams.

  3. Education • Adams spent years of his education being dropped from private schools until he was 12, he then was home schooled by his private tutors, his Aunt Mary and his father. Adams father insisted as part of his education that he studies exhibits, after a while he continued his formal education by attending the Mrs. Kate M. Wilkins Private school until he graduated from it in his eighth grade year in 1917.

  4. Where the Pictures Appear • You can find most of his photos on gallery sites or sites selling them. In 2006 a photo of his was sold for $609,000 in an auction and in all total was $25,000,000. • You can also find some • of his pictures in many • photographic books.

Adams Style • The style he usually uses is landscape, but all together he’s an art photographer, documentary photographer, landscape photographer and a pictorialist. • A Documentary Photographer is a person who take pictures • of historical events. • As a distinct movement pictorial photography is • essentially of British origin.

  6. Inspiration • He started out intending to play the piano, it brought substance, discipline, and structure to his youth. • He gave up piano for photography • because it gave him more freedom.

  7. Facts about Adams • During WWII, Adams wrote a book called “Born Free and Equal” in effort to help aid the Japanese American incarcerated in "relocation camps“ • Married Virginia Rose Best, and had two children, Michael and Anne.
