  3. Prayer A B A B ALL Eternal and Almighty God, We thank you that today you have allowed us to begin a new year. We resolve to be faithful and true to those who love us So that we may never bring worry to their minds or hearts. We resolve to live in forgiveness and in kindness, that we may go about always doing good. We resolve to live in diligence and effort, that we may use the full gifts and the talents that God has given us. Grant us the strength to keep these resolutions and to make new ones through the coming year. Amen.

  4. SWBAT…(Students will be able to…) Explain expectations and procedures of the class.

  5. Who is Ms. Stitt? • From Holland, MI • Graduated from the University of Notre Dame (GO IRISH!) • Loves reading, hiking, sports, being outdoors, and did diving in college (the sport, not scuba) • Moving from Los Angeles, CA • 3 half brothers, 3 half sisters, I’m the youngest!

  6. Introductions • Name • One thing you like to do • Two goals for the year– • 1 academic • 1 non-academic

  7. 4 corners: When Ms. Stitt says a statement, move to the corner of the room that you most agree with. Corner… 4= I LOVE this 3= I feel pretty good about this, I don’t mind doing it 2= I am not crazy about this or I would prefer not to do this 1= I hate this

  8. Expectations: In the groups assigned, brainstorm what your expectation means. Be ready to share with the class. Questions to consider: • What are all of the different things that this expectation might mean? • What might be good about this expectation? Are there bad things about this expectation? If so, what are they? • What are examples of meeting this expectation? • What are examples of not meeting this expectation?

  9. Jobs: assistance needed! Please help Ms. Stitt with some responsibilities of the classroom…. • Absent Student Recorder (need to be responsible, at school almost every day) • Homework recorder (very responsible, always knows what the homework is)

  10. Syllabus Follow along with Ms. Stitt…

  11. Homework: On 1 sheet of paper, please write a quote that shows what you want this year to look like. Needs to be: • Colored/decorated • Written by someone else (not you, not your friends) • Due tomorrow.
