IOS V4.1 • Definition: • Point release to support proposal from carriers and CDG • Supports top priority air interface Release A features • Includes other network features (e.g. packet data improvements) • Required for Japan’s 3G licenses • Dates: • No consensus on the dates for V4.1 • Carriers strongly wish to have the baseline for IOS V4.1 completed in April 2000. • Vendors do not believe this is achievable • Status: • Planning work has nevertheless started in the January meeting • Carriers are project managing and bringing contributions • Champions assigned and technical impacts identified 3GPP2 report
TSG-A 2000 work plan • IOS V4.1: • Target freezing date = April 2000 • Target release date = June 2000 • Abis Technical Specification: • Target freezing date - March 2000 • Target release date = June 2000 • IOS V5: • Target freezing date = December 2000 • Target release date = February 2001 • TFO enhancements: • Target freezing date = December 2000 • Target release date = February 2001 3GPP2 report
TSG release synchronization • Release A Technical Specifications do not support same features • no end to end support • puts carriers relying on interoperability at a disadvantage • TSG-A would like to request stronger coordination, especially with TSG-C in order to synchronize TSG-A’s Technical Specification with TSG-Cs • A yearly release process is proposed • synchronized with other TSGs work plan • For example, there could be a maximum delay of three months behind air interface standards 3GPP2 report
All IP work • TSG-A feels it is important they are involved in the All IP work: • TSG-A has the expertise on Access Network Interfaces as well as on IP mobility (A8 - A11 interfaces) • Discussions and work have already started on IP interfaces within the Access Network as part of the IOS V5 work plan • TSG-A re-iterates their commitment to participate in this effort • TSG-A endorses the decision of the TSG-S All IP ad hoc but is concerned about the dates: • the February meeting conflicts with TSG-A Hawaii meeting - TSG-A will nevertheless have some participation and contribution • the second meeting is inconvenient: propose to move to the beginning of the March 20 week in Japan • We assume that the third meeting in Seattle will take place in the week of April 10 - TSG-A has no problem with this date and place 3GPP2 report
