A quick recap • Task: Put the events below from chapters 12-16 into the correct order • Title: Understanding chapters 12-16 of Holes • Some of the boys discuss their future jobs with Mr Pendanski • Stanley finds a bullet in the hole he has dug • He impresses X-Ray by suggesting that X-Ray keeps it until the next day to get the entire day off • Stanley moves one place forward in the line • The next day we meet The Warden • She insists the boys work hard to dig for more findings • Stanley learns that himself and the others are not just digging for ‘character’ building • Stanley receives a letter from home
Chapter 17 • How does The Warden treat Armpit and why? • What happens to Stanley?
Chapter 18 • What does Stanley do after he has finished digging his hole? • How does he treat Zero? Why? • What does this show about Stanley’s changing personality?
chapter 19 • What wakes Stanley in the night? • What has Magnet stolen? • What happens when this gets to Stanley? • What does Stanley tell Mr Sir? • What are the consequences?

How do you know this? What words prove your point?
