  4. The top ten skills to work on this summer to get ready for Kindergarten…

  5. Skill # Print your name with one capital letter and the rest in lower case letters.

  6. Skill # Name letters and the associated sounds in random order (b says /buh/)

  7. Skill # Name numbers 0-10 in random order.

  8. Skill # Understand rhyming words.

  9. Skill # Cut paper on a line and glue with tiny dots.

  10. Skill # Name eight basic colors.

  11. Skill # Listen to others without interrupting.

  12. Skill # Use self-help skills to dress self and tie or buckle shoes.

  13. Skill # Follow directions using position words: above, below, under, over, next to, between, before, after, in front, behind, top, bottom, middle, etc.

  14. and the #1 skill to work on this summer is...

  15. Make new friends and have fun!

  16. And now……Regal Eagle is going to take you through a day in Kindergarten…..

  17. We stand and say the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and the Texas Flag…

  18. We learn at the computers…

  19. We practice calendar skills and sing calendar songs…

  20. We cut and paste at our tables…

  21. We track the words as we read poems and color songs…

  22. We write in our journals…

  23. We work in the Reading Station… • Track words to color songs and nursery rhymes • Highlight letters we know

  24. We read in the Reading Station… • Read and sequence with picture cards

  25. We read books from our book boxes… These two students brought books from home to keep in their book boxes!

  26. We learn in the Word Station… • Stamping words • Magnetic letters • Stamping pictures for letter sounds

  27. We learn in the Math Center… • Magnetic color and shape matching • 3D shape sorting • Counting games

  28. We go home and prepare to do it all over again tomorrow…

  29. Regal Eagle says, “Have a great summer. See you on August 24th at Meet the Teacher.”
