Background • Round 2 HIV and AIDS 2005 – 2010 : USD 2,142,857 • Round 5 TB 2006- 2011 – USD 2,296,251 • Round 6 – Bed nets • RCC HIV and AIDS 2010- 2016 : USD 1,184,940 (3yrs) • Round 10 – USD 2,781,582 (grant approved , negotiations underway)
Opportunities • Adequate funding • Gives an opportunity to improve NS systems • Presents good opportunity for harmonization of country implementation strategies • Capacity building for staff and volunteers • Available support from PMU (programmatic and finance) • Sharing of experiences
Proposal Development • NS to be clear on its areas of interest • Preparations come with tight deadlines ( flexibility) • Highly competitive environment • NS needs to have accurate documentation ( profile areas of interest ,audited statements) • More staff members need to commit to the process
Programme implementation • Organizational Assessment conducted before award is given • Needs clear implementation strategy • Don’t commit to targets that your NS is unable to deliver • Requires proper documentation of all programme documents • Monitoring plans needs to be clear at all levels • Have clear reporting tools - data are externally verified at two levels (PMU and LFA) • Adherence to reporting deadlines – not negotiable
Finance & Administration • Adherence to financial procedures • Evidence of expenses included in the budget – quotations historical expenses • Strict reporting deadlines • Clear assets management guideline • Update staff contracts (salary survey)
