  2. PCOA P2 Results Spring 2013 We had 96 P2 students who took the PCOA - our average percentile score was 71 Our scores ranged from 484 to 274 100th to 14th percentiles Nationally, a total of 3,854 students took the exam 779 P1 804 P2 1,843 P3 428 P4

  7. Why is this summative assessment important to you? It evaluates your learning and summarizes the development of you, the learner, at a particular point in time It can be used to see if educational standards are met and to assess curriculum (you want to graduate from a high performing school) It provides an additional avenue of application of knowledge in a standardized examination similar to boards (computerized)
  8. When is our summative assessment for P3s this year? PCOA When: Thursday, 1/16/14 , 9am-noon Breakfast: starts at 7:30am Check-in is 8:15 to 8:45am What to bring Be sure to bring identification “Your best effort” Where: Assigned computer lab: 520, LRC, or 540 Will need about 15 student volunteers to sign up to use own laptops
  9. About the PCOA “Pharmacy Curricular Outcomes Assessment” Developed by writers the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) Has been used in assessment of P1 to P4 students “Scaled assessment” (0 to 700) No preparation required other than rest
  10. Rewards for High Performance on PCOA Recognition at graduation for top two Letter of recognition from the Dean’s Office for top 10% Overall examination scores above the college mean will be rewarded with bonus points in Applied Pharmacokinetics, PPR 7670
  11. Consequences for Poor Performance If perform below prespecified breakpoints in any PCOA content section Generate a student development plan. Students that do not adhere to the above plan will receive a negative professionalism report per the College’s Student Professionalism Curriculum Policy and report to Dean of Student’s Office (DOSO) Unexcused absences will result in DOSO report
  12. Summary of Student Development Plan Details of student development plan (deadlines approximate) Typewritten by the student Meet with Peer Mentor by 4/1/14 Meet with Faculty Advisor by 4/25/14 Dated and signed plan by above turned into Summative Evaluations Chair by 4/30/14.
  13. What To Do to Prepare for the PCOA Good night’s sleep the night prior Be well nourished and caffeinated in the morning Bring your identification to the exam
