  1. MARCH 20134-H Newsletter From your County Extension Agent First of all I would like to congratulate all the 4-H members that participated in the San Antonio Livestock Show. I know you enjoy those family moments at the livestock show, waiting for you turn to show your projects. Also, the 4-H members that went to the San Angelo Livestock Show, I hope you all had fun there. On Saturday, February 23 the Maverick County Extension Office conducted a workshop on 4-H Photography, 4-H Fashion Show, and Story Board. If you didn’t attended the workshop you are more than welcome to participate in these County events. The Maverick County 4-H Fashion Show – Story Board will be on Saturday, March 23 at 10:00 AM. Also the Archery workshop was on Saturday, March 1 at the MCJLS meeting room. The training covered basic archery principles, District 12 rules, and important dates. The kids also practiced out side the show barn. We will continue practicing every other Friday afternoon starting March 8th. The Maverick County 4-H Archery Tournament will be sometime in May. The District 12 Shooting Sports Archery Tournament will be on June 22, in Benavides, Texas. The Maverick County Extension Office is glad to communicate that the Maverick County AgriLIFE Extension web-page is open. Some of the information in the web page will be 4-H monthly News Letters, publications, photos, and Flyers. All you have to do is go to your computer browser, type Texas AgriLIFE Extension District 12, click on contacts, then County Offices. After that select Maverick County, and you will find our web page. There are different options to navigate. For example home, links, newsletters, and publications. The Maverick County Extension Office will continue sending the 4-H Newsletters, flyers, and memos via e-mail, obviously you are welcome to reply if you have any questions. The Maverick County Extension web page is another opportunity to maintain good communication with the community.

  2. The last day to submit your photos for the Maverick County 4-H Photo Show will be on Monday, March 18th. You must submit your photos via e-mail to ogalindo@ag.tamu.eduin jpeg, jpg, or gif format. You must submit one photo per e-mail with one attachment only. Please include the category, age division, last name, and first name in the e-mail. The photos will be judged on Tuesday, March 19th and you will be notified immediately if you can advance to District 12 Photo Show. You must submit your photos, and pay the $ 8.00 fee per photo for the District 12 Photo Show by March 21st on 4-H Connect. Take advantage of the spring brake to take your pictures, and send them to the County Extension Agent e-mail address. ________________________________________________________ Photos of the Shooting Sports Archery project of the Maverick County 4-H. We have some new adult members that are actual professional archers, with a strong support for this project.

  3. The Southside Exhibitors 4-H Club meeting will be on Monday, March 18 at 6:30 PM in the Maverick County Junior Livestock show barn. If you have your Member Achievement Plan Record Book you can bring it at that time __________________________________________________________ The Riverside 4-H Exhibitors 4-H Club meeting will be on Tuesday, March 19 at the Baptist Church meeting room. ________________________________________________________ The Eagle Pass 4-H Club meeting will be on Tuesday, March 19 at the Maverick County Junior Livestock show barn at 6:30 PM. You can also bring your livestock project record book. __________________________________________________________ The Maverick County 4-H Club Managers meeting will be on Thursday, March 28th at 5:00 PM in the Extension Office. _______________________________________________________________________________ The Maverick County 4-H Council will be on Thursday, March 28th at 6:00 PM in the MCJLS meeting room. The Quemado 4-H Club meeting will be on Tuesday, March 19 at 7:00 PM in the Quemado Community House. __________________________________________________________
