Exchange Gases. Khalid jalal 8A. The first step. The first step of exchanging gases is breathing, and breathing is done by nose or mouth, when we inhale the air it is called oxygen, and the oxygen goes to the back of the throat and into the trachea and the in to the bronchial tubes.

  2. The first step The first step of exchanging gases is breathing, and breathing is done by nose or mouth, when we inhale the air it is called oxygen, and the oxygen goes to the back of the throat and into the trachea and the in to the bronchial tubes.

  3. Second step The bronchial tubes passes through the lungs and when we inhale and exhale the lungs open to let air in and out, at the end of the bronchial tubes there is a thing called alveoli.

  4. Third step There are tiny blood vessels that are called capillaries surrounding the alveoli, and the oxygen that we inhale goes through the alveoli walls and into the blood.

  5. Fourth step After the oxygen goes into the blood, the blood goes to the heart, and then the heart pumps, it pushes the blood with the oxygen to the cells of tissues and organs.

  6. The last step And while the cells use the oxygen, carbon dioxide is produced and taken into the blood, and then the blood carries the carbon dioxide to the lungs and through the capillaries, and then the carbon dioxide is taken out of the body when we exhale.
