What is the LSAMP Program? • One of the four Alliance program funded by the National Science Foundation. • AGEP • CREST • HBCU-UP • Increase the quantity and quality of students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics field. (STEM field) • Encourages students to enroll and complete baccalaureate programs in STEM fields and continue on to graduate studies.
Service and Privileges • Becoming part of a larger learning community among the alliance participants. • Earning stipends for tutoring, leading study groups, doing research, and community services. • Gaining research experiences in a specific field of interest in faculty laboratories. • Participating in the national LSAMP conferences. • Graduating with a solid degree and outstanding opportunities for careers or graduate school. • Opportunities to have international experience at laboratories through special programs that provide financial support • Qualification for the Bridges to the Doctorate program.
Tutorial/Service Learning Outcome Students will be able to: LSAMP Program is able to: Strengthen Institutional Learning Outcomes. Increase number of students with interest in STEM fields. Collect data for future improvements. Utilize data in determining program’s effectiveness. • Develop self-confidence. • Solve, Explain, and Present. • THINK CRITICALLY, and translate word problems. • Pass math/science classes.
Recruiting Tutors • Students are recommended by instructor. • Fill out application • Recommended students take an assessment. • Students are placed in appropriate level of course to tutor. • Officially become tutors.

One-to-One Tutoring Tutee and tutor work one-on-one with each other. Made available for students who needs help from different math/science courses. Group Tutoring A group of students that needs help with a specific math/science course. Usually conducted by the lead tutor. Types of Tutorial Session
