  5. French Immersion Certificate • a minimum of nine credits in French • Français 10, 11, and 12 are compulsory • Grade 10: FRA10, SCI10F, ARTDRA10, • Grade 11: FRA11, HISCAN11,BIO11F, MVA11 • Grade 12: FRA12,GEOPLA12,BIO12F, • We only offer 10 and they have to take 9

  6. Semesters and Timetable • Semester 1 September - January • Semester 2 February - June • 4 day cycle with 4 – 75min Periods 1,2,3,4 • Attendance Attendance Attendance!! • Assignments Assignments Assignments! • ‘Study/Review’ nightly

  7. Course Load • Grade 10 students will pick 8 Courses • Grade 11s take minimum of 7 • Grade 12s take minimum of 6 • pick courses for both semesters • course changes in September are only done to correct errors or balance course load if possible

  8. Course Load cont’ • Resource and Learning Centre students should talk with their junior high counsellor, teacher and resource teacher about their course selection

  9. 8 courses total All grade nine students choose English, Phys Ed, Math, Science, Fine Arts then select Elective Courses choose 2 Alternates to your Elective choices Selecting Courses

  10. English • English 10 Required (no choices)

  11. Mathematics • Required to take one of the following: • Math 10 Essentials (Graduation) • Math 10 At Work (Graduation) • Math 10 (Academic- 2 credits)

  12. Mathematics,cont’d • Math Essentials 10/ Math At Work 10 Most Nova Scotia Community College Programs, Skilled Trades programs, Some University Arts Programs • Math 10 (All year) 2 credits 1st step in academic Math path Guide to Selecting Math courses

  13. Science • Required to take: Science 10 or 10F • Optional as elective: Biology 11 or 11F should be strong Science/Math student to take Biology in grade 10 year

  14. Fine Arts • Art Dramatique 10F • Dance 11 • Drama 10 • Music 10 • Visual Arts 10 Music 10 Instrumental or Vocals will only receive one credit

  20. The Program O2 is a three year program that will help you begin to answer the question as you work towards a career or occupation by linking what is being learned in school to the community and workplace

  21. The Students Need to be engaged with learning in order to achieve their academic potential Want their learning to focus on preparing for a career Opportunities are arranged for a wide range of school, workplace, and community learning experiences

  22. The Components Specific classes created to just for O2 students! Career Development 10 & 11 Workplace Health and Safety 11 Community-Based Learning 10 Co-operative Education 11 & 12

The Community Specific courses have been developed for O2 students that focus on community learning partnerships Students graduating with and O2 diploma must obtain a minimum of four co-op credits Each co-op credit includes 100 hours where the student is involved with the community plus additional classroom time
