  2. Responsibility To “respond” is to “answer” • Therefore, to be “responsible” is to be answerable • To be accountable

  3. Responsibility • Irresponsible behavior is immature behavior • Taking responsibility – being responsible – is a sign of maturity • Our share of responsibility for our actions increases with maturity

  4. Responsibility • Adam was immature in the garden when he tasted the fruit and laid the responsibility on Eve • Eve was immature when she put the blame on the serpent • “He/she made me do it!”

  5. Responsibility • In the end, we are answerable for the kinds of persons we have made ourselves • “That’s just the way I am!” is not an excuse

  6. Responsibility • Paul told Timothy – (Titus 1:12) There’s a saying, “the Cretans are liars and lazy”, it’s TRUE! They are (liars & lazy) but correct them for it!

  7. Responsibility • Aristotle insisted, • “We become what we are as persons by the decisions that we ourselves make.”

  8. Responsibility • Responsible persons are mature people who have taken charge of themselves and their conduct, who own their actions and own up to them – who answer for them Thanks to “The Book of Virtues” by William J. Bennet
