Character trait essay “You blasted fool.”(pg.154)This is what Ponyboy says when Dally raise’s a gun to the cops.Dally can be described as a uncivil person for many reasons.One example is when Dally was being rude to the girls.The novel states,”fiery huh?That’s the way I like ‘em.(pg.24)This shows that Dally doesn’t mind about what people think about him.He just does what he wants.Another example of Dally being uncivil is when he walks away from the girls.The novel describes,”Dally got up and stalked off,his fists jammed in his pockets and a frown on his face.”(pg.25) Therefore, Dally doesn’t have any manners.He left the girls and stormed off without a care.From these examples it is clear that Dally has no manners around other people. Dally can also be described as daring.One example is when he waved a gun around at the cops.The novel states that “Dally raised a gun and I thought:You blasted fool.”(pg.154) This shows that Dally is a risk taker and a dare devil.In other words,he’s daring.A second example of Dally being daring is when he chose to leave the hospital and go to a rumble.The novel describes,”I thought you were in the hospital.” ”I was”(pg.143) Therefore,even if Dally was all banged up,he would never let his buddies down from the gang.From these illustrations it is obvious that Dallas Winston is a very daring person to be around.As you can tell,Dally is a very insecure ,daring and uncivil person. -Jackson Willbanks
