Criteria of Leadership Potential • Have you ever broken yourself of a bad habit? • Do you retain control of yourself when things go wrong? • Do you think independently? • Can you handle criticism objectively and remain unmoved under it? Do you turn it to good account? • Can you use disappointments creatively?

  6. Criteria of Leadership Potential • Do you readily secure the cooperation and win the respect and confidence of others? • Do you possess the ability to secure discipline without having to resort to a show of authority? • Have you qualified for the beatitude pronounced on the peacemaker?

  7. Criteria of Leadership Potential 9. Are you entrusted with the handling of difficult and delicate situations? 10. Can you induce people to do happily some legitimate thing which they would not normally wish to do? 11. Can you accept opposition to your viewpoint or decision without considering it a personal affront and reacting accordingly?

  8. Criteria of Leadership Potential • Do you find it easy to make and keep friends? • Are you unduly dependent on the praise or approval of others? • Are you at ease in the presence of your superiors or strangers? • Do your subordinates appear at ease in your presence?

  9. Criteria of Leadership Potential • Are you really interested in people? In people of all types and all races? Or do you entertain respect of persons? Is there hidden racial prejudice? • Do you possess tact? Can you anticipate the likely effect of a statement before you make it? • Do you possess a strong and steady will?

  10. Criteria of Leadership Potential • Do other people’s failures annoy us or challenge us? • Do we use people or cultivate people? • Do we direct people or develop people? • Do we criticize or encourage? • Do we shun the problem person or seek him out?

  11. Criteria of Leadership Potential • Do you nurse resentments, or do you readily forgive injuries done to you? • Are you reasonably optimistic? • Are you in the grip of a master-passion such as that of Paul who said, “This one thing I do”? • Do you welcome responsibility?

  12. Christ-Like Servant Leaders • Are motivated by LOVE to serve others. (John 13:1-2) Jesus’ Love Was: 1) Possessive(He loved His own) 2) Continuous(He continued to love them to the end) 3) Unconditional(He even washed Judas’ feet) 4) Unselfish(He was serving in His most difficult hour)

  14. Christ-Like Servant Leaders 2. Possess a SECURITY that allows them to minister to others. (John 13:3) • Jesus knew His positionand was willing not to flaunt it. • Jesus knew His callingand was willing to be faithful to it. • Jesus knew His futureand was willing to submit to it. • Security is the prerequisite to great undertakings. Only the secure will stretch. • Security is the prerequisite to small undertakings. Only the secure will stoop.

  15. Christ-Like Servant Leaders 3. INITIATE servant ministry to others. (John 13:4-5) Note Jesus’ Attitude: • He had nothing to prove. • He had nothing to lose. • He had nothing to hide.

(John 13:6-7) When He got to Simon Peter, Peter said, ‘Master, You wash my feet?’ Jesus answered, ‘You don’t understand now what I am doing, but it will be clear enough to you later.’ Peter then persisted, ‘You’re not going to wash my feet - ever!’

  20. Christ-Like Servant Leaders 8. Live their lives OPPOSITEthe philosophy of the world. (John 13:18-19) “Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.” Philippians 2:3-4
