Future Course Work • Challenge yourself • Evaluate strengths/passions/challenges • Utilize Homework Hub for assistance • Talk with teachers, counselors and parents if you are struggling • Junior Year challenging • Check with counselors to make sure you are on track with graduation requirements

  4. Timeline • End of Sophomore year *Consider diploma track *Consider Community Service hours (24 needed) Credits completed: 2 Math 2 English 1 PE/Health 1 Practical or Fine Art 1 (at least) history 1 (at least) science Foreign Language ** At the end of Sophomore year: 12 credits completed, ** Consider summer school or additional alternatives

Spring of Junior Year *Plan to take the SAT and/or ACT *Plan to take practice tests or obtain prep materials and start to study *Take at least one exam in May or June • Fall of Junior Year *Continue researching colleges *Sign up to here from college reps throughout the year • June *Athletes file the NCAA Clearinghouse form *Go to www.ncaaclearinghouse.net and register FHHS school code: 030-124

Before Senior Year *Research colleges *Request information from colleges *Visit colleges during the spring/summer 2009 *Read information from colleges to know admission requirements and deadlines *Compile your academic resume, honors/awards, extracurricular activities, community service, and job experience

  7. Begin to narrow down your college choices *Applications are lengthy and college application fees range from $25-$60 each *Based on your list of colleges, ask your counselor and up to two teachers if they would write a POSITIVE letter of recommendation

  9. FHHS Graduation Requirements • Standard Diploma (22 credits) 3 Math 4 English 3 Social Studies 3 Science 1 PE/Health 1 Practical or Fine Art 7 Electives *24 hours of community service

  10. FHHS Graduation Requirements • Diploma with Honors (23 credits) 3 Math 4 English 3 Social Studies 3 Science 2 Foreign Language 1 PE/Health 1 Fine Art 6 Electives 3.5 weighted GPA, at least 5 Honors and/or AP courses All core courses must be taken in the regular classroom

FHHS Graduation Requirements • Diploma with Highest Distinction (24 credits) 4 Math 4 English 3 Social Studies 3 Science 3 Foreign Language 1 PE/Health 1 Fine Art 5 Electives 3.75 weighted GPA; at least 5 AP courses in 3 different disciplines All core courses must be taken in the regular classroom

  12. AIMS • Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards All students must “meet” or “exceed” all three areas (Reading, Writing and Math) of the AIMS test in order to graduate from an Arizona Public School

  13. AIMS Tuition Waiver • Students must complete all 16 core competency courses by graduation with a B or better in each course • Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 in the 16 core competency courses or be in the top 5% of their graduating class • Students must “exceed” standards on all 3 of the AIMS HS tests or “exceed” standards on 2 of the AIMS HS tests and “meet” on 1 standard
