The setting is the time, location, background information that contributes to the comprehension of the story.
6. Introduction-Continues The rising action gives details/events that add to the story’s plot; the rising action can be a series of events that lead to conflict or a problem. This is the part of the story where the tension is built.
We will identify 3-4 for class discussion.
7. Problem/Conflict The problem/conflict in a text is a struggle that the main character is facing.
The conflict may be internal or external.
A struggle does not always mean something bad.

The climax is the event or point in the story that changes a character’s way of thinking or behaving.
The climax will usually follow a series of events.
10. Resolution/Solution The part of the story when the character has resolved the problem to be one way or the other.
It is the explanation or result (outcome) of the problem.
It’s the answer to what the character struggled with.
11. Conclusion The conclusion is the last physical event in the story.
It can be as simple as a smile, handshake or a wave good-bye.
It can also be as involved as a family separating, a death, or broken relationship.
12. Conclusion-Continued A conclusion is a physical event and it must be the last thing to occur in the story.
It may sometimes come before the last sentence in the book or could be the last sentence.
