Once upon a time, there lived a beautiful young girl whose mother had died. Her father had remarried a wicked woman who had two daughters of her own. They forced the girl to be their servant. One day, word went out from the king that there was to be a ball held in honor of his son, the prince. The two evil stepsisters planned their outfits very carefully. Cinderella wanted to go too, but they would not let her. All of a sudden, a fairy godmother appeared and granted Cinderella her wish to attend the ball. Cinderella had to be home by midnight, however. At the ball, the sisters all danced, but it was Cinderella who made the best impression on the prince. As they were dancing, the clock struck midnight, and Cinderella ran off, leaving a slipper behind. Over the next few days, the prince tried the slipper on every woman in the kingdom. Finally, he placed the slipper on Cinderella’s foot, and it fit perfectly. The stepsisters and stepmother were shocked and upset. Cinderella and the prince rode off together to the castle. They were married and lived happily ever after.
