The meaning • Why you acting like you're famous?Got a face that no one knowsSo you never entertain meBut when the girls leave you go home • Every now and then you get it wrongYou try but you just fuck up every songWhy you acting like you're famous • The overall vibe that I get from the song/ the overall narrative to me seems to be a girl singing about a guy that she is either trying to get over or trying to diss. The boy has clearly done something to hurt her, and this song is her payback, a classic pop narrative.
The genre • The genre of this song to me comes across strongly as pop it follows all the typical conventions, it follows the typical verse, chorus and bridge structure. • Conventions of a pop music video would include things like • Lots of colour • Makeup • Having fun, partying, drinking • Conventionally attractive people • Outgoing personalities • Bubbly atmosphere
The idea The idea for this video is to create a empowering music video that sends a message that girls don’t need a boy to be happy
influences • My influences are from early 2000s music videos made by young female artists, also videos like hair by little mis that showcase a real sense of 'girl power' and freindship and that’s exactly what I am, trying to portray in this video.
The cast A group of teenage girls between the ages of about 18-19.
Performance • The performance element of this video would be kept minimal so that the story and narrative can shine through as this is more interesting, the performance will be simplistic and minimal with a use of projections to add a sense of professionalism.
narrative • I imagine the narrative to be very typical. A young girl dissing an ex or an old friend, this is a very popular narrative within 2000s music videos as back then there were a lot more 'pop' songs that were by younger female artists and typically about an ex- boyfriend as this is an easy thing to write about as for most it’s a first- hand experience. our main singer will be travelling around New York with her friends having a great time showing off she does not need a bot to be happy.
The style • I would like the overall video to be a mix of narrative and performance, I think a collage of the main singer with her girlfriends doing stereotypical things such as shopping for new clothes, sleepovers eating at fancy restearaunts and that would be mixed with certain clips of the singer lip-syncing along to the lyrics in different locations such as a simple plain backdrop or a street ex. ..
