Our Insights: I have to say that the only reason this article is popular with the SEO crowd is because the authored used Information Architecture to do what I call “bedazzle” the community. In reality, the concepts the author is presenting are nothing more than site structure and content development, but he's doing it using big words to make readers think it is something new. That aside, the concepts that being writing about are certainly something that every web developer and SEO should be taking into account while building out a site and implementing optimization strategies to effectively structure the information (see what I did there, you've been bedazzled!). Which redirect should I use? As an SEO or site owner, you are bound to run into redirects. Whenever you delete a page, change your URL structure or switch to a new domain, you are going to have to redirect your URLs. Read More Our Insights: I doubt there is a Seattle SEO agency around that has not handle to handle redirects for one reason or another. The problem comes when you are looking at implementing them in while also saving your backlink power when you have already put in a lot of off-page work. We typically default to 301 redirects because everything passes with them, including backlink power. If you are looking at using that same URL for a different piece of content, though, use a 302 or 307. Keep in mind that these do and say the same thing and neither pass link juice. Read More Our Insights: The tactics here certainly are not “spammy”, but they can pretty darn irritating to some people if you are not used to them already. I love all of the options that are presented here with exception of the “Welcome Mat”. While I can not deny that they work well for lead generation, as a user, they bug me. Plus, when I was using SumoMe on this site it slowed down my website a lot because it depended on resources being pushed from servers other than my own. Maybe they have improved it and we can test it again. Announcing Search Engine Nerds, a Rebranded Search Podcast You read that right! Read More Our Insights: Two take-a-ways here. 1.
