6. The Academy Day Extension Activities – depend on student demand • Teaching Day – 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. (32.5 hours teaching per week) • Extension Activities 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. (at the next induction session in April we will ask you what you want to do)

Curriculum at KS4 • All students will take the Engineering and Business Diplomas • In addition students will undertake GCSEs in Mathematics, Science (at least 2 GCSEs), English Language, a Modern Foreign Language and ICT • Students will also cover Citizenship, Physical Education, Enterprise, Careers Education and Guidance and Personal, Social and Health Education

16. GROUPING Year group split into into houses of a maximum of 40. Each house of 40 subdivided into groups of 20, 10 and 5 for the purposes of teaching in subgroups. Each house to be allocated the entire week as a group – with the subgroups attending individual teaching with specialists as required. Teams within houses will compete in a range of challenges across the year with the winning team receiving appropriate rewards. Each house will be named after a relevant local entrepreneur e.g. ‘Bamford’, ‘Arkwright’, ‘Royce’ etc.

Staffing for each team • Team Leader – To lead and coordinate the delivery of the curriculum model and to be responsible for the support of the 40 students within the team. • Two Learning Mentors (technicians) – Able to support the learning of the students and to be responsible for the achievement of 13 students each (to be learning mentor for each of these students) • One Learning Support Assistant - To support the learning of the students across the curriculum and to be responsible for the achievement of 13 students each (to be learning mentor for these students). • One seconded member of staff from JCB/Rolls-Royce/Toyota/Bombadier depending on the challenge activity. • Specialist staff to plan, support and deliver the leaning in the specialist subjects (to be responsible for the attainment of students in their subject speciality). 1.2 f.t.e requirement for each team.

20. Learning Manager - 2 hours on Monday with house group 2 Learning Mentors 40 students in a house group 35 students – 45 minutes Maths supported study and 1 hour supported Diploma 5 students for 15 minutes each Learning Support Assistant Specialist Learning Manager

21. Learning Manager - 2 hours on Monday with house group 2 Learning Mentors 40 students in a house group Students undertake a further 20 minutes of Maths and 1 hour supported Diploma 40 students for 20 minutes followed by intensive work on a one-to-one basis with a smaller number of students Learning Support Assistant Specialist Learning Manager

22. Post-16 Curriculum • Diplomas: • Engineering (from 2010) • Business (from 2011) • Manufacturing and Product Design (from 2012) • Range of ‘A’ Levels to complement the Diploma programme being delivered at The JCB Academy or by Thomas Alleyne’s High School
