Required skill set: • Visual Literacy – Visual Design Skills • Visual Literacy - Design History Knowledge • Research > Ideas • Ability to discern the best idea • Good technical ability / craft knowledge
A word about Process: Note(books) (writing & reading) • Sketch, note-take, printouts, clippings • Reading – reading list, magazines, the web Software • Learn it – Photoshop & Flash. Also Illustrator… Discussion – crit sessions etc.
Assessment • 40% - Applied Portfolio • 40% - Experimental Portfolio • 20% - Evaluative Report
‘5 a day’ – Applied Portfolio • You have to make 3 artefacts: • 1. Poster (Photoshop): This should be A4 in size. It should grab someones attention, and communicate clearly. • 2. Banner Ad. (Flash): This should be 60x468 in size. It should grab someones attention, and communicate clearly. • 3. Web Page Prototype Design (Photoshop): Content from this should be taken and adjusted from the URL supplied above PLUS you can include other imaginative ideas for content. Your file should be 750x550 in size.
