Criminal Justice Collaborating Councils • Organizing a local Criminal Justice Collaborating Council (CJCC) is an important first step in developing effective justice strategies. • CJCC is a forum for local justice system professionals and community leaders to come together and focus on justice system improvements and initiatives.
Criminal Justice Collaborating Councils • Structure, title, size, and makeup of these groups is determined locally and dependent on the need and circumstances of the local community. • Important players include: Judge - Sheriff - County Board member - County Executive/Administrator - County Human Services - Corrections - Public Defender - District Attorney - Clerk of Courts, …

Criminal Justice Collaborating Councils • CJCC’s are the foundation for developing effective justice strategies such as drug courts and other problem solving practices in the justice system. • State level collaboration and support is necessary. • Legislators can play an important role in these collaborations.
