  1. New Buffalo Area Schools Fine Arts, 2008

  2. Arts in the Schools • Research shows that students who participate in the arts score higher on standardize tests. • “A Columbia University study revealed that students in the arts are found to be more cooperative with teachers and peers, more self-confident and better able to express their ideas.”

  3. Arts in the Schools • “Arts learning experiences contribute to the development of certain thinking, social and motivational skills that are considered basic for success in school, life and work. These fundamental skills encompass a wide range of more subtle, general capacities of the mind, self-perceptions and social relationships.”

  4. Arts in the Schools • “Young children who received a year of musical training showed brain changes and superior memory compared with children who did not receive the instruction.”

  5. Arts in the Schools • Art is our one global language. It knows no nation, it favors no race, and it acknowledges no class. It speaks to our need to reveal, heal and transform. It transcends our ordinary lives and lets us imagine what is possible. Richard Kamler
