National Partnership for Careers in Public Safety and Security • This experience includes developing and managing academies, providing courses and educational materials, building partnerships, and creating small learning communities that exist as schools within schools or as magnet schools. The mission of the National Partnership is to assist schools, communities, and other stakeholders in building and improving smaller learning communities focused on careers in law, public safety, and security.

National Partnership for Careers in Public Safety and Security • In 1999, the U.S. Department of Justice helped initiate the development of the National Partnership for Careers in Public Safety and Security for academies and similar small learning communities focused on students interested in the broad career areas of law, public safety, and security. The National Partnership builds on years of experience of a variety of organizations and individuals.

Philosophy • The National Partnership for Careers in Public Safety and Security is founded on the belief that one key to educational and life success for many students is participation in smaller learning communities that provide nurturing environments and focus on a meaningful future with personal planning to help make that future happen. To do this, the National Partnership emphasizes three key strategies in its assistance work:

8. Philosophy 3. Providing preparation for, and experiences with, postsecondary education and learning experiences in the professions in which the student has the most interest.
