About Us The Peace Center of Rogers Park (PCRP) provides a variety of programs and services for individuals and families within the Rogers Parks neighborhood of Chicago, offering education and support to members of the community as they determine their own path of growth and development. PCRP is the best charity foundations for children who need help and allows the participants to grow spiritually, academically and professionally whilst networking and increasing involvement with other neighborhood residents, program participants and community partners.

  3. Program AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM We have offered free after-school program to an average of 40 children a day to neighboring children, since January 2009. Due to the severe budget cuts at the state level, which is affecting many of our community partners, we have received a larger number of applicants this year. Students will meet weekly, Monday through Friday, and range in age from K-8th grade. We depend heavily on Loyola University€™s work study program as well as Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary students for tutors and our after school program focuses on proving a safe space after school apart from homework help and extracurricular activities like gardening, martial arts, drama, and music

  4. SUMMER OF HOPE DAY CAMP Summer of Hope Day Camp is another program which is offered free of charge every summer to youth, grades K-8th, for 5 or 6 weeks. Thanks to the Urban Service Learning Program, children are able to spend a day at the beach a week apart from spending the day at Peace Center engaging in arts & crafts, games, Junior Master Gardener program, drama, and peace circles with the average daily attendance ranging from 50-80 with 90 enrolled. While funding for the program varies yearly and depends on gifts from individuals and churches, thanks to strong donor support over the last two years, we have been able to have a carnival day to wrap up camp, with a waterslide, face painting, games and a cookout.

  5. Teaching Garden Children are curious - like to learn by doing, and love to play in the dirt, using their hands to create things. Ranging in age from 5 to 12 years old, our Teaching Garden provides 3 seasons of garden education programming for neighborhood children. With gardening being an interacting and engaging activity, it allows a child to experience the satisfaction of caring for something over time, learn about healthy fresh foods, nutrition, sustainability, and gain environmental awareness. We use the Junior Master Gardener Program to teach gardening skills and all children that complete the program will earn a certificate.

Holiday Cheer This program brings the Christmas spirit to families we serve through our after-school program and the Mary Crane Head Start Program in which a full dinner is served to approximately 50 families yearly, after which the families participate in a Christmas themed arts and crafts party. Each child is giving a wrapped Christmas gift to bring home to open on Christmas day as well as each family being given a grocery store gift card to prepare their own holiday dinner. The United church of Rogers Park members and partners donate all gifts and gift cards as well as cook and serve the holiday meal.

Urban Service Learning Come spend a week serving with the Peace Center of Rogers Park! We have a growing reputation for solid Urban Service Learning engagement and training and groups from across the country have connected with us for repeated and deepening outreach. We have also been approved as experiential learning centers by both Loyola and Northwestern Universities. We are able to offer 12 bunk beds as well as have showers for use by our groups and The Peace Center of Rogers Park can accommodate 15 person groups. Our USL’s provide much of the labor, and supporting funds for children’s camp.
