  2. Amazing Facts About China!! All About China Bamboo is a fast growing plant and can grow up to one metre a day. The great wall of China was built over 2 and a half thousand years ago and is more than 5,000 km long. The Map Of China ( isn't it fascinating!!!) Population Of China 1.3 billion people live in China which is one fifth of the worlds population!!

  3. All About China The most popular food in China are dumplings and noodles. Inside dumplings can be duck yolk, meat, vegetables etc… Chinese Mascots Beibei (blue) represents fish and the blue Olympic ring. Jingjing (black) represents the Chinese panda and the black Olympic ring. Haunhaun (red) represents the Olympic flame and the red Olympic ring. Yingying (orange) represents the Tibetan antelope and the yellow Olympic ring. Nini (green) represents the swallow and the green Olympic ring.

  4. Did You Know Great Wall Of China Over 2 and a half thousand years ago, The Great Wall Of China was built. Reaching over 5,000 Km long it is an extremely popular landmark to visit in China. It was built by emperor Qin Shi huangdi. He was the first emperor of china. He built the wall for protection from the evil enemies lurking about in china. Forbidden City The forbidden city is located in the centre of Beijing. It is rectangular shaped and covers 74 hectares. The forbidden city is surrounded by a 6 metre deep moat and a 10 metre high wall. Since yellow is the symbol of the royal family the roofs are built with yellow glazed tiles.

  6. The Closing Ceremony In Beijing on the 22.08.08 the Olympics finished for another four years. The Olympics were amazing and the closing ceremony was great with all its beautiful fireworks!!! It was being watched by thousands in the audients and by millions more on the TV. The torch was put out by an extinguisher and was carried away to London for the next Olympic games.

The five Olympic rings represent the five continents and were designed in 1913. They were designed by Baron Pierre De Coubertin.The reason that the rings are linked is because the five continents are being brought together to the Olympics!

Tom Ashley Thomas John Mitchell Ashley (born 11 February 1984 In Auckland ) is a sailor from New Zealand , who won the gold medal in the men’s sailboard event at the 2008 Summer Olympics, he also won the 2008 RS:X World Championships . He is the Olympic champion and the 2008 World champion. Ashley placed 2nd two years previous at the 2006 World Championships. During the event the top-10 sailors were selected to sail the final race, called the medal race. Before the start of the medal race Ashley was in first position, only one point in front of Casper Bouman from the Netherlands. Bouman finished second in the medal race, one position in front of Ashley. Both sailors then had the same points (23), but Bouman was crowned as the World champion thanks to his better position during the medal race. Tom went to Kings Prep in Auckland.

Born in Melbourne, Australia, Drysdale began rowing at university at the age of 18. He gave up rowing to concentrate on his studies, but began rowing again after watching fellow New Zealander Rob Waddell win gold at the 2000 Olympic Games.
