But first of all your eyes will be captured by martenitza (martenitsa, martenica). Everyone has decorated their clothes with them. Moreover, you can see decorated dogs and cats. In the small villages in the mountains people decorate their domestic animals. Houses have their own martenitza as well.

You have to tie some red and white thread together and then two people twist each end in opposite directions about 20 times and then put two ends together and smoothen it. One can tie beads on it as well. Different colors for the sun, trees, blue skies etc.

Take one color thread and go about 30 times around your hand . Then tie it to one end of the twisted thread. Then do the same with the other colour.
