  4. In a sentence, the subject is the person or thing who does the action. The object is the person, thing, or place to whom the subject does something. The verb always describes what is happening or going on: the action. EAT

  5. Here’s another example. Note the difference. The red berries are eating the bird. The birdis eatingred berries. subject verb object

  6. Note: Depending on the perspective, sometimes subjectandobject can be reversed– but only if it makes sense! The mouseis inspecting the dragon fly. OR: The dragon flyis inspecting the mouse.

  7. What’s happening here? Form 3 S-V-O sentences. Make each bird the subject once. The sparrow … The duck … The seagull … … is yelling at the duck. (yell at) … is listening to the seagull. … is watching the duck and the seagull. (listen to) (watch)
