  4. Diet • Hippos eat with their lip, by grabbing grass with their lips. • They chew with their big teeth. • They eat the plants on the ground. • Hippos go and search for their food.

  5. Behaviors • Hippos are great swimmers. • They do everything in the water, even fight. • Hippos make grunts and other noises underwater to communicate with each other.

  6. Physical Features • The hippo’s grayish color helps them camouflage in the water. • A bull hippo’s teeth can be 28 inches long. • Their mouths can open 4 feet wide.

  7. Interesting Facts • Hippos can go under water for 5 or 6 minutes. • They can graze for up to 5 hours. • A baby hippopotamus is born underwater, and weigh between 60-110 pounds.
