3. PFAC requirements are based on the work of the Institute for Family-Centered Care (www.familycenteredcare.org) “PFAC shall advise hospitals on matters including but not limited to: patient and provider relationships, IRBs, QI activities, patient education on safety and quality matters.”
“Hospitals adopt and implement policies and procedures to govern PFACs goals, membership, training and roles and responsibilities.”
“Hospitals must establish a PFAC no later than 9/1/09 and must report compliance with PFAC requirements to DPH no later than 10/1/09.”
“Requires that at least 50% of the PFAC’s members be current or former patients/family members by 12/1/09.”
“Requires annual report to DPH describing the work of the PFAC.” Meeting minutes are also required.
