Storms leave trail of death and chaos Headline Huge storms sweep northern Europe Headline BBC online January 18 Event At least 40 people have been killed as violent storms lashed northern Europe, causing travel chaos across the region. Britain was the worst hit with nine people killed as rain and gusts of up to 99mph (159km/h) swept the country. Hurricane-force winds battering Germany have claimed at least seven lives. The other deaths were reported in France, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands. The severe weather has forced hundreds of flight, rail and ferry cancellations and prompted road and school closures. Meteorologists at London's Met Office said the winds reached "severe gale force" as they crossed Britain and were the highest recorded since January 1990. Comment Germany bore the brunt of a great storm that swept across Northern Europe this week. Germany was also in the political news this week. The German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced this week that she would putting all her efforts into securing a new treaty for Europe. It interesting that Germany holds the EU AND the G8 presidencies this year and so carries more political weight than normal. It has been the dream of Germany to unite all the nations of Europe under one political system and government for 1000 years. It may remain out of their grasp though. Daniel 2 makes clear that European nations remain divided (iron and clay). Revelation 17 makes clear they do NOT receive a kingdom but do have power with the beast. This is the exact position of Europe at the moment. But they will unite in war against Christ. Humans blamed for climate change Headline Humans blamed for climate change Headline BBC online February 2 Event Global climate change is "very likely" to have a human cause, an influential group of scientists has concluded. We can be very confident that the net effect of human activity since 1750 has been one of warming," co-lead author Dr Susan Soloman told delegates in Paris. It also projected that sea levels were most likely to rise by 28-43cm, and global warming was likely to influence the intensity of tropical storms. Comment A few weeks ago a group of experts who assess the dangers posed to civilisation added climate change to the prospect of nuclear annihilation as the greatest threats to humankind. As a result the group moved the minute hand on its famous “Doomsday Clock” two minutes closer to midnight. It now stands a 5 minutes to midnight. Jesus makes clear that in fact “all flesh” would be destroyed if he did not intervene. We can see clearly that mankind IS destroying the beautiful planet God created for us to live on. Our greed and sin is bringing this about. But mankind will NOT be allowed to destroy the earth. God’s plan is for it to be inhabited forever. Isaiah 45:18. Sin and death will finally be removed from this earth and when that happens the curse on the earth that was introduced by God in Eden will also be removed. Remove the cause of the curse ie SIN and then the curse on the earth (ground) will be removed. See Genesis 3:17. Only Christ’s return will save both mankind and the planet. During "totality" the Moon took on a reddish hue. This is the last lunar eclipse in the Iranian current year and they will not going to have another beautiful and complete eclipse like this one for five years. (2) A powerful earthquake has hit the Indonesian island of Sumatra, flattening hundreds of buildings and killing at least 70 people. An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 has struck western Iran on Wednesday. Comment Lunar eclipses are not rare occurrences but what is interesting about this particular lunar eclipse is where the area of “totality” occurred. Ie Which nations could see the total lunar eclipse. The diagram above shows the nations in the darkest area. Europe, Russia, Middle East, Africa. The main nations involved in the final conflict. And what did they see? A moon turned blood red. A few days later in Iran, after seeing a blood red moon, an earthquake struck. Another much larger earthquake struck Indonesia this week as well. Also this week an Italian volcano erupted causing lava to stream into the sea. The words below seem to be an accurate description of this weeks events. The day of the LORD is coming. At least it is if you use the complicated dating scheme invented by the Venerable Bede in the 8th century. Bede's method added together the ages of Adam and his descendants listed in the Old Testament and worked forwards. It was used until the 17th century, when James Ussher, the Archbishop of Armagh, Primate of All Ireland and a celebrated theologian, dated the creation to 4,004 BC using an almost identical method. Ussher's date became so influential that it is still printed as a fact in the margins of the Book of Genesis in some contemporary editions of the Bible. Maybe it's his precision that appeals: according to Ussher, God kicked off the Creation on Sunday, October 23, and Adam and Eve were thrown out of Paradise on a Monday morning, two weeks later. We owe Bede a lot. He was the first to use AD (Anno Domini) to describe historical events, he worked out for himself that the world was round and he popularised the name "English" for the people and the language. Comment No one can date exactly when creation took place. We have perhaps all heard of Usshers suggestion that 1996/7 saw the 6000th year since creation. However we perhaps have not heard of other suggested dates for when creation took place. The article above appeared in this weeks newspaper. It shows that in fact the 6000th year may still be in front of us. God created the world in 6 days and on the 7th rested. As we near the end of the 6000th year, it will usher (no pun intended) in the final millennial rest. 6. Headline Australians warned of water cuts Headline BBC online April 19 Event Australian PM John Howard has warned that irrigation of much of the nation's farmland will be banned unless there is heavy rainfall in the next month. Mr Howard said there would only be enough water in the huge Murray-Darling river system for drinking purposes. He acknowledged that this would have a "potentially devastating" impact on many horticultural, crop and dairy industries around the river basin. But he said there was no choice, and he described the situation as "grim". Irrigators are already warning that if they cannot water their land, there will be huge crop losses and Australian consumers will face large price rises. Australia is suffering from its worst drought on record, and the lack of rainfall has already severely reduced the production of major irrigated crops in the Murray-Darling river basin. Comment The article also said that Australia is “praying for rain”. With its worst drought on record it is perhaps little wonder. God uses the “natural” elements to bring about his purpose. He can subdue whole nations & change the course of history, with famine, plague and pestilence. The world should realise that they should be putting their trust in God. Even now they could repent. They will not however – until it is too late. 7. Headline Mysterious Illness is Killing Bees Worldwide Headline BBC World Service April 17 Event It would be the perfect plot for a doomsday thriller. Just imagine if you found a way of killing bees. Bees pollinate: no pollination, no crops: no crops, no food. As you can see bees matter, they're a vital link. And although there is no suggestion of a conspiracy there is a major and spreading problem with the world's bee population. Beekeepers in London say 50 to 75 per cent of their bees have died and in the US 24 states are affected and 50 to 90 per cent of hives there have gone. It's happened in Spain too -- the common experience being a total collapse of bee colonies with none or very few left in the hive -- they simply disappear. No one knows why its happening. Comment In America the following crops are threatened. Florida oranges, Georgia peaches, Texas cotton, North Carolina melons and many others - that depend on domesticated bees for most of their pollination. Amazingly there is a verse in the Bible that links the final destruction of the nations to the destruction of bees! It comes in Psalm 118. Psalm 118 also includes the central verses of the whole Bible. There are 31,174 verse in the Bible. This makes Psalm 118:8 and 9 the very central verses. Verse 8 says this “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man”. If only mankind did put their trust In the LORD there would NOT be the destruction of the nations. God would NOT have to send a plague that wipes out bees either. God is judge of the earth. 8. Earthquake in Kent Headline Earthquake shakes parts of Kent Headline BBC online April 28 Event An earthquake has shaken parts of Kent, damaging buildings and disrupting electricity supplies. Homes in five streets in Folkestone had to be evacuated because of structural damage including cracked walls and fallen chimneys. The magnitude 4.3 tremor struck at 0819 BST and experts said its epicentre was a few miles off the coast in the English Channel. Comment In the Bible earthquakes can be seen literally (as above) and also symbolically. Even in modern reporting big political changes are often called “political earthquakes”. There has been a political earthquake in Britain this week. Scotland has voted in (by the narrowest of margins) the Scottish National Party (SNP). The SNP has one goal in mind. That is to break up the 300 year old union of England, Scotland, N.Ireland and Wales. They want a Scottish nation in its own right. The United Kingdom is beginning to shake! Cracks appear! No wonder it is called a political earthquake! It is highly unlikely however, that the UK would split before Christ returns. What is interesting though is that Britain, the kingdom that ruled over a quarter of the land surface of the world is breaking apart. As Britain has gradually turned its back on the Bible and God, so the empire has crumbled and now even the UK itself shakes. God speaks of Britain as Tarshish. Note how God shakes the kingdoms in the verse below. We know the kingdoms of this world will soon become the kingdoms of our Lord. Rev 11. Gale-force winds and rising flood waters have forced the evacuation of hundreds of people in New South Wales. More than 200,000 homes remain without electricity in the Hunter Valley and Central Coast regions, and in Sydney. "This is the worst storm and the worst damage our electricity network has seen for more than 30 years," said EnergyAustralia. (2) A powerful cyclone approaching the oil-rich Persian Gulf area forced the evacuation Monday of nearly 7,000 people from an Omani island, a government official said. Even with the weaker wind speeds, Gonu would be the strongest cyclone to hit the Arabian Peninsula since record keeping started in 1945 Comment As the world is in perplexity and turmoil with nation rising against nation etc. We also see in the natural world increasing volatility as well. This volatility can cause an increase in tension itself between nations as fuel prices rocket and so the vicious circle continues. We keep reading (as above) about the worst storms, the highest temperatures, the most prolong droughts, the heaviest flooding and so and so on. The world is in travail as a woman in labour. The contractions are coming closer and closer together with the pain getting increasingly worse. They herald the Son of God. Event 1) Torrential rains caused nationwide flooding yesterday as emergency services were called on to perform hundreds of rescue operations on what was the wettest day of the wettest June in history. (Britain) 2) The Italian government was yesterday urged to call a state of emergency in Sicily after a heatwave resulted in several deaths, forest fires and power cuts. Temperatures in Sicily, and in the south of Italy, have hovered between 104-113F (40-45C) this week. 3) In Pakistan, provincial relief commissioner Khubah Bakhsh estimated that some 200,000 houses had been destroyed or damaged. More than 800,000 people have been affected by the floods from heavy rains and overflowing rivers and dams. 4) Wildfires swept through Greece Thursday, killing two people and destroying homes after days of record high temperatures that led to at least nine heatstroke deaths and extensive power cuts. Comment Jesus said that we would see fearful sights and great signs from heaven. This week has seen fearful sights and great signs from heaven. Earthquake hits Mexico Headline 1) Strong earthquake hits Mexico 2) Tornado Kills 14, Hurts 146 in China 3) UK weather turns angry Headline Various headlines this week Event 1) A strong earthquake measuring 6.1 has struck southern Mexico. The quake hit the southern state of Chiapas causing a widespread power cut and panic among residents. 2) A tornado ripped through two provinces in eastern China, killing 14 people, state media reported Wednesday. Another 146 others were hurt and more than 800 houses were destroyed in Jiangsu province's Gaoyou city and in Tianchang city in Anhui, the official Xinhua News Agency reported. The twister was the city's worst in 50 years. 3) Looming angrily over London, this is the massive cloud that brought weather havoc to the capital. Within an hour, its devastating work was done. Hailstones the size of marbles had battered Battersea and flashfloods caused chaos in Clapham. Comment We quoted the verse below last week but it seems so relevant to current events I have quoted it again! The picture above of the extraordinary twister-like cloud formation over central London is the latest example of extreme weather conditions nationwide Thousands of people remain homeless in Britain following last weeks floods. Comparisons have been made to New Orleans. Some clergy this week have spoken of God’s wrath being poured out on Britain because it has become so godless. On this we can agree. Britain has become one of the most godless places on earth. Comment Jesus said that there would be earthquakes in various places. This week has certainly seen earthquakes all around the world. The greatest earthquake is still to come. Summer weather wettest on record Headlines Summer weather wettest on record Headline BBConline July 26 Event The early summer in the UK has been the wettest since records began more than 240 years ago, the Met Office has confirmed. Figures covering three months up to 23 July show more than 387mm (15.2in) of rain fell in England and Wales. That is more than double the average of 186mm (7.3in) for the period, resulting in two bouts of devastating floods in parts of England in June and July. The previous biggest summer deluge since records started in 1766 came in 1789 when almost 350mm (13.8in) fell. Comment We personally have been involved in the wettest summer since records began! We live near Tewkesbury which is still flooded a week after almost 6 inches of rain fell in 24 hours. As the main water board station was also flooded we have been without running water for a week! Gloucester and Cheltenham have also had their water switched off and are collecting their water from water tanks in the street. One headline said “Water, Water everywhere and not a drop to drink”! Meanwhile, Europe suffers under incredible temperatures. Over 500 have died in Hungary alone in the last week due to the heat! The previous biggest summer deluge in Britain was in 1789. This was the year of the French Revolution. It was this revolution that began the principles of “Human Rights” which led to the theories of evolution etc. The Bible calls these wicked human teachings “froglike spirits” in Revelation 16. Some 2,100 square miles of forest have burned already this year, close to the 2,230 square miles consumed all of last year, the EU executive said, quoting provisional figures from its European forest fire information system. It shows that July 2007 was one of the worst months on record and the worst July we have experienced since we started keeping and pooling information at European level," EU spokeswoman Antonia Mochan told reporters Comment The fires are raging in Europe. Yet another headline saying the “worst on record”. Whether it is relation to floods, temperatures, fire, rain, hurricane, storm we keep seeing the headlines “the worst on record”. These are great signs to us that the judgment of the word is near. In fact there is of course a direct link between the final judgment and fire as Peter makes clear in the verse below. There will be spiritual fiery judgement as the chaff from the harvest is burned but also literal fires as well. When the final great earthquake happens when every wall shall fall to the ground the fires will be immense. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by fire. Let us make sure we are with Lot and rescued by the angels. Many dead in Peru earthquake Headline At least 450 dead in Peru earthquake Headline Associated Press August 16 Event The death toll rose to 450 on Thursday in the magnitude-8 earthquake that devastated cities of adobe and brick in Peru's southern desert. Survivors wearing blankets walked like ghosts through the ruins. The historic Senor de Luren church was among several heavily damaged in Ica, where at least 57 bodies were taken to the morgue. Services were packed when the quake struck at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday because August 15 is celebrated by Roman Catholics as the day the Virgin Mary rose up to heaven. Comment Yet another earthquake in a divers place. This time in Peru. There was also a strong earthquake on Russia’s far eastern island of Sakhalin that left 2400 people homeless. Also last week was a strong earthquake off Indonesia’s main island Java. A few weeks ago saw the earthquake in Japan damaging the nuclear reactor. There was a strong earthquake in Tanzania in East Africa in mid July. There was another strong earthquake on the 6th July in Mexico. It is interesting that the earthquake above came on the day that Roman Catholics were worshipping Mary on the day they believe she ascended to heaven. It is this false worship of Mary ‘Queen of Heaven’ that goes back to Babel. The people then worshipped Semaramis, Nimrod’s wife. When Nimrod died in a hunting accident his wife later had a child which she said was Nimrod reincarnated. They called the child Baal (My Lord) and Semaramis they called Baalti (My Lady). The false worship that began in Babel continues today. They call Mary the Madonna – Latin for My Lady! Bible Quote Mark 138 and there shall be earthquakes in divers places,

Greek fire horror Headlines Witnesses tell of Greek fire horror Headline BBConline August 25 Event People affected by wildfires raging across Greece have described scenes of carnage and grief, as emergency crews battle to bring the infernos under control. "It's a Biblical catastrophe, the sight is horrible. I saw people burned alive in their cars," said Christos Kafiras, the prefect of the department of Ilia, after visiting the epicentre of the firestorm, near the town of Zaharo in western Peloponnese. "It's a tragedy," another witness told Greek television. "I can see the burnt bodies of a mother holding her child in her arms. Further away there are more bodies. It's terrible." Comment And so as Britain continues its worship this week of a Greek styled goddess Diana, the land of Greece burns. Many fires are believed to have been started by arsonists. At least 63 people were killed and thousands of properties destroyed. The number of fires worldwide is on the increase. It could be part of the fearful sights and great signs that we expect to see before Christ returns. We know that the final judgement will involve fire in both a literal and symbolic sense. Literal because God says he will use fire and brimstone as he did in the days of Sodom. See Ezekiel 38:22. But symbolic because all wicked and sinful will be destroyed. See Revelation 21:8. These things will happen - so what sort of person should we be? Bible Quote 2 Peter 3 11 ¶ Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Aftershocks rock Indonesian island Headline Aftershocks rock Indonesian island Headline BBConline September 14 Event Aftershocks are continuing to rock the Indonesian island of Sumatra, following major earth - quakes earlier this week. A temblor with a magnitude of 6.9 struck off the island's west coast on Friday, prompting officials to briefly issue another tsunami warning. The aftershock was 153km (95 miles) southwest of Bengkulu, the area hardest hit by the series of quakes. At least 13 people are known to have died and thousands more have been left homeless by the earthquakes. The first earthquake, on Wednesday evening, had a magnitude of 8.4, making it the world's strongest this year. It was followed by a 7.8 magnitude quake and a series of shocks. A number of tsunami warnings have been issued and lifted. Comment So there have been 3 major earthquakes in a row in Indonesia this week. First earthquake at 1810 (1110 GMT) on Wednesday, magnitude 8.4 Second earthquake at 0649 on Thursday (2349 GMT on Wednesday), magnitude 7.8 Third earthquake of magnitude 6.4 at 1748 (0948 GMT) on Thursday, off northern Sulawesi. The earthquake on Wednesday was the world’s largest so far this year. We know it is nothing compared to the quake that is coming but it is another sign of the nearness of Lord’s return. The number of earthquakes are increasing. Volcano erupts on Red Sea island Headline Volcano erupts on Red Sea island Headline BBConline October 1 Event A search for survivors is under way after a volcano erupted on a Yemeni island in the Red Sea, killing at least four people. The western part of the tiny al-Tair island, used as a military base, collapsed following the eruption, the defence ministry said. Four bodies were recovered from the sea and two soldiers are missing. Yemeni coastguards requested the help of nearby Nato ships in the search and rescue operation. Commander Stuart Moors, on board the USS Bainbridge, told the BBC that two survivors were rescued and four bodies pulled out of the sea during the operation. Comment This volcano has been dormant for 124 years. This week it erupted. The island, some 140km (80 miles) off the Yemen coast, is about 3km long and has been used as a military base since 1996. Geologists say al-Tair, which lies on a major fault line. Yemeni officials are linking the eruption to several small earthquakes which they say hit the island on Sunday morning. The area is of course significant. The earthquakes and volcano have been caused because the Arabian plate is moving away from the African plate. The eastern side of the Arabian plate goes straight through Israel. We know a devastating earthquake is coming and will be centred on Israel. It cannot be coincidence that at this time a dormant volcano awakes. The plates are moving – so is God’s plan and purpose. We know that God has previously shown his great signs and wonders in the Red Sea. Interestingly the Red Sea is mentioned in a latter day context when God destroys Edom. See the verse below. Edom (descendants of Esau) are Arabs in the area of Jordan. Bible Quote Jeremiah 49 20 Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Edom... 21 The earth is moved at the noise of their fall, at the cry the noise thereof was heard in the Red sea.

Swathes of Lebanon’s forests burnt Headline Swathes of Lebanon forest burnt Headline BBConline October 3 Event Forest fires have destroyed large areas of woodland across Lebanon, killing one woman and injuring dozens. More than 2,000 hectares (5,000 acres) of forest have been lost. Officials have described the fires as the worst in a decade. Many of the blazes appear to be under control, but fires continue to blaze in the north near Qobeyyat and Andaqt. Italy, Cyprus and Jordan have dispatched helicopters to help battle the fires. A woman died on Tuesday of smoke inhalation near Deir al-Qamar in the Shouf Mountains region. Comment This week has seen earthquakes and a volcano erupt south of Israel. To the north Lebanon is aflame. Lebanon is the door through which the northern host will enter Israel. The door of Lebanon must be opened to let the armies through into Israel. In the verse below God says that the doors of Lebanon are opened so that fire can devour the trees. As we see fires raging in the literal trees of Lebanon we know the time is coming when fire will rage in the symbolic trees of Lebanon. Trees are symbolic of the nation itself. We read in Isaiah 2:12-13 “For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: And upon all the cedars of Lebanon”. So the day of the LORD will directly involve Lebanon. The fires above perhaps point to the nearness of this day. Headline 500,000 flee Californian raging fires Headline ABCnews October 22 Event Deadly, wind-whipped wildfires have triggered the largest evacuation in state history, prompting more than 500,000 people to flee ahead of flames that destroyed nearly 1,300 homes and continued Tuesday to threaten tens of thousands more. The number of people joining the mandatory exodus - and the number of homes destroyed - was expected to grow as new fires started and others continued to burn a path toward the sea - through populated communities. "This is the largest mass evacuation of a natural disaster in California history," said Daniel Berlant, spokesman for the state's Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Comment The satellite picture above gives some idea of the scale of the fires that have been raging in California. Only a month ago it was Greece that was on fire with similar satellite pictures published then. The earth is in trouble. This week the United Nations published a Global Environment Outlook report. It looks at climate change, pollution, access to clean water, and the threat of mass extinctions and concludes that all these problems are being met with "a remarkable lack of urgency". In every area that they considered things are getting worse. The report shows that global society is less sustainable than ever. The BBC commenting on the report concluded that without major changes in direction, we had better hope that the people who believe that human ingenuity, technology and economic growth will always solve our future problems turn out to be right. Hundreds of thousands of people were evacuated or sought safe shelter before the storm hit the coast from the Bay of Bengal, but some were left behind. The true extent of the devastation remains unclear as the storm has blocked access to the affected areas. Tens of thousands of homes are thought to have been damaged and the recent crop harvest has also probably been destroyed. The World Food Programme is sending emergency food rations for 400,000 people. The government, the Red Crescent and other NGOs are also sending teams. Comment This week a UN panel has agreed a landmark report declaring that climate change is "unequivocal" and may bring "abrupt and irreversible" impacts. The text was officially launched by UN chief Ban Ki-moon. “I believe we are on the verge of a catastrophe if we do not act”, “I come to you humbled after seeing some of the most precious treasures of our planet threatened by humanity's own hand,“ he said. We see the world in a very perplexed state. (See Luke 21:25) Mankind sees the destruction coming and is finally admitting that he is responsible for the damage to the earth. It is the final judgement of the earth and at that time the saints (those who fear God) are given their reward. The earth will NOT be destroyed by climate change but WILL be filled with God’s glory. The Met Office Hadley Centre said new figures, which it compiled with the University of East Anglia (UEA), were further evidence of the need to tackle climate change. Globally, 2007 has so far been the seventh hottest since records began in 1850, with an average temperature of 14.4C (57.9F). Eleven of the warmest average annual global temperatures have been recorded in the past 13 years. Comment On the island of Bali this week, 190 nations have tried to come to a deal on curbing emissions and preventing climate change. Amid some extraordinary scenes and public rows (even some tears!) an agreement has apparently been reached. But what is this deal that has been the cause of so much tension and bitter wrangling? Amazingly this agreement is NOT agreeing what should be done but purely agreeing that talks can start! The "Bali roadmap" initiates a two-year process of negotiations designed to agree a new set of emissions targets to replace those agreed at Kyoto. It is clear to most people that the leaders of the world will NEVER cure the problems of the world. Why? Because of their greed, selfishness and political corruption. Three minor quakes over the past month have served as a reminder that Israel and the West Bank sit atop one of the most sensitive fault lines in the world, where earthquakes have a history of causing havoc. "We can say with certainty that an earthquake of a magnitude of six on the Richter scale could take place in the coming years," said Yefim Gitterman from the seismology department at the geophysical institute of Lod, near Tel Aviv. Comment The whole world is behind the division of Israel. There is no nation on earth that does not believe that “parting” God’s land is the right solution and will bring peace. It is interesting that the land of Israel IS literally divided. The black lines on the map above show the plates in the Middle East. You can see that running up the centre of the land of Israel is a major fault line – the edge of a plate. As the nations try to divide the land , the Lord God has designed the earth with a division built in. Not because he wants his land divided, but to enable him to judge the nations. They want division - they will get division. The seismology department in Israel is predicting a major earthquake at anytime. They expect this due to the long length of time that has gone by since the previous major earthquake. The people are being warned of what is to happen. The earthquake that occurs (with the epicentre in Israel) will be so great that no nation on earth will be unaffected. EVERY wall will fall to the ground.
