Introduction The Solomon Islands National Consultation Meeting on the UN Pacific Framework for Action 2008-2012, was held on the 7th �8th Feb 2007 at the King Solomon Hotel, Honiara- Solomon Islands. This Consultation Meeting is a follow up from the UN Multi Country Orientation Workshop held in Samoa in December 2006, which was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Planning and Aid Coordination. The SI National Consultation Meeting in Honiara, Solomon Islands was attended by Senior Government Officials, Civil Society and Church representatives, Provincial Government representatives, Various UN Agencies, and Donor Partners. The country �specific results matrix was developed on the basis of the draft out puts for the Solomon Islands that has been developed by SI Government representatives at the Multi Country Orientation workshop in Samoa. The draft outputs were developed based on national priorities and UNDAF outcomes, and are focused on the priority areas of rural development, good governance, the productive sector, and capacity building. Infrastructure was not addressed as it was being examined by the SI Government in its transport policy (National Transport Plan). The draft outputs were taken as the starting point for discussion in small groups during the national consultations. They were arranged on sheets of paper around the room, organized by the four UN priorities, and groups were randomly formed to work on each area. The UN core team and observers joined groups according to their areas of expertise, to play supportive role. Participants were then engaged in a �market place� to review and comment on the outputs developed by other groups. Groups moved around the room at regular intervals to comment on the indicators developed by other groups , particularly addressing their relevance , repetition, and contribution to UNDAF priorities. After group work, collective review through the market place method, and revision in small groups, the draft outputs were reviewed in plenary. These outputs were then finally drafted in the SI Results Matrix.

SI Country Results Matrix KEY AREAS: UNDAF OUTCOME 2 : National and Regional governance systems exercise the principles of inclusive good governance; respecting and upholding human rights, and resilient Pacific Island communities participate in decision-making at all levels. National Priority: Good Governance Effective Management of Development Assistance Country Outputs: 1. Strengthened capacity of leaders at national, provincial and village levels to uphold the Forum Principles of Good Leadership and Accountability 2. Aid Management Systems on the basis of the Paris Declaration developed for effective aid coordination and scaling up for MDG achievements Indicators: 1a. Number of annual plans generated at the provincial and community level that combine a pro-poor and equitable approach to development 1b. Proportion of leaders and public officials trained in public leadership, constitution and good governance 2. Status of alignment of National Economic Recovery, Reform and Development Plan to MDGs & linked with national budget Strategic Partnerships: UN Agencies, PIFS, Commonwealth Secretariat, NZAID, AusAID

SI Country Results Matrix KEY AREAS: UNDAF OUTCOME 3: Strengthened equitable social and protection services through support to the development of evidence based policies and enabling environments, and improved capacity to deliver affordable, quality, basic social services with strengthened safety nets and an emphasis on equality, inclusiveness and access. National Priority: Equitable and accessible social justice system Country Outputs: 1. Increased community awareness on child abuse, exploitation and gender-based violence and knowledge of available services Indicators: 1a. Number of cases of gender based violence reported 1b. Number of cases of child abuse reported Strategic Partnerships: UN agencies, NZAID, AusAID, National & Provincial Governments.

SI Country Results Matrix KEY AREAS: UNDAF OUTCOME 4: The mainstreaming of environmental sustainability and sustainable energy into regional and national policies , planning frameworks and programmes, and Pacific communities sustainable using their environment, natural resources, and cultural heritage. National Priority: Sustainable use of environment/resources Country Outputs: 1. Increased capacity of government, communities and leaders to improve natural resources and environmental management 2. Increased institutional support for and use and documentation of good community and traditional practices that contribute to the protection of ecological integrity, biodiversity, environmental services and advanced sustainable livelihoods. Indicators: 1. Percentage of national and provincial budgets allocated to natural resources and environmental management programmes 2a. Number of trainings conducted targeting efficient and effective resource utilization 2b. Proportion of communities practicing responsible harvesting of resources Strategic Partnerships: AusAID, NZAID, UN Agencies, PIFS, CROP Agencies

    7. UN Assistance The Government of Solomon Islands recognizes the UN as a strong partner in development for the country. The Government of Solomon Islands affirms its support for UN reform processes and efforts and that it is only through genuine consultation, inclusive of the UN, Development partners, Civil Society, and SIG that development can succeed. It assures that development is nationally led, owned, and managed and ensures to make the best use of its UN. The Government of Solomon Islands looks forward to the joint presence of several UN agencies that will be established in the country towards the end of this year. The establishment of the UN Country office is a milestone in harmonizing the working relationships between this development partnership.
