Board Goals 11 · 19 · 08 • All schools single-track as space allows • Desired school sizes: • 750 student Elementary schools • 1,200 student Middle schools • 2,500 student High schools • Clear feeder patterns (minimize split feeders) • Foster neighborhood schools • Equitable programs and facilities to support learning environment and student achievement • Develop potential future attendance area boundaries for future schools as a planning guideline
Assumptions 11 · 19 · 08 • Jurupa Hills High School • Opens in 2010 • Initially serves grades 9 and 10 • Adds one grade level each year until serves 9-12 • Elementary School #29 • Opens in 2011 • Serves grades K – 5 • Future Schools phased in as funding becomes available and as housing units are built

Boundary Change Assistance: Consulting Services 11 · 19 · 08 Due to the size and scope of the current Boundary Change, expert assistance was sought A Request for Proposal was sent to seven firms as well as posted on the District website Four Proposals were received and evaluated

Boundary Review Committee 11 · 19 · 08 • Established by the Board to review possible attendance boundary scenarios and recommend the preferred scenario for Board approval • Broad, District-wide representation: • Member and an alternate from each District school • Business Services Division recommending the BRC be changed to an Ad Hoc Advisory Committee to be established when boundary changes are needed: • Eliminate unnecessary meetings • More focused Committee with a specific task in mind • Increased participation due to reduced number of meetings • Second reading of policy change to Ad Hoc Advisory Committee is on the agenda for Board adoption
Boundary Review Committee: Appointment of Members 11 · 19 · 08 • Requirements • One member and one alternate member representing each school site • Member/alternate must reside within the attendance area of the school they are representing • Desirable for member/alternate to be a parent/guardian of a student currently attending the school • Nominated by school Principals, approved by the Board • List of Members and Alternates is on the agenda for Board approval
