History of the Disease in Egypt • In Egypt the disease was suspected on clinical bases in the Nile Delta in 1990 then it was strongly suspected among imported merino sheep from East Germany at Tahrir proveince in August 1963. • Between 1963 -1966 another 4 outbreaks were reported at Tahrir province – Zawyet Abu-Moussellem college of agriculture 9Giza) and Sidi Ghazi Behairah governorate.

History of the Disease in Egypt (continue) • In 1969 serotype 16 of BT was isolated and in 1970 serotype 1, 4, 10, 12 were isolated. • No clinical evidence for BT disease reported in Egypt since 1971 - 1974 no recorded cases of isolated virus in OIE reports. • During the previous period there was production of vaccines from isolated serotypes in Egypt and continue of strategic vaccine till 1984 through National Vaccine Research Institute (NVRI).

National Policy of (GOVS) In Egypt the third alternative is suitable and is applied by strict quarantine and emergency vaccination with application of hygienic measure and restriction of movement of animals between governorates and investigation of all animals (individuals and populations) and in markets, abattoirs, veterinary clinics and artificial insemination centers.

The Mitigation for eliminating Disease infection. • Assessment of the present situation and quarantine of focus infections according to OIE regulations. • Passive surveillance (field Monitoring) • Active surveillance (Flash reporting from any notification). • Serosurveillance to detect existing of circulating virus.

  11. The Proposed Mitigations for detecting the existence of BT Virus The main objective is developed the Serosurveillance and the Database systems. That will be enable the decision makers for management and planning for eradication The proposed activities Using the rapidly tests Kits of competitive Elisa for detection of Igm, Igg through the field Serosurveillance. • Developed an integrated database to store the surveillance records and its related information in the form to be analyzed.

  12. Establishment a National Geographic Information System (GIS) to facilitate spatial analysis. • Establishment of a Regional Network to exchange the information and experience from European Commission. in
