Eastern Region Health Care Coalition Proposed Strategic Plan
Introduction Bringing together all facets of employment, education and economics (E3), the Eastern Region Healthcare Coalition is using an evolving solution-based approach using each partner’s resources in their area of strength to build a strategic plan that addresses the area’s growing need for health care professionals. Coalition priorities are: • the assessment of our region’s current healthcare providers’ needs, • plan for future needs, and • the creation of a pipeline to fulfill these needs.

Developing the Regional Coalition • All health care providers were invited to an informational session in November 2006 • From the November 2006 meeting, the Eastern Region Health Care Coalition was formed. • Sheryl McLain presented the State’s Health Care Strategic plan in January 2007 to coalition members. • Break out committees based on the plan’s areas of focus were formed. • Executive Committee was formed to compile the committees’ reports into a regional strategic plan.

Marketing and Recruitment Short Term Goal: Increase educational awareness to produce qualified applicant pools for health care programs Long Term Goal: Decrease the number of health care worker vacancies in the Eastern Region
Education and Training of Health Careers Goal: Increase the training capacity of health care programs.
Retention of Health Care Professionals Goal: Identify strategies to assist health care facilities retain employees in the Eastern Oklahoma Region.
