  4. Context • If the loss of biodiversity continues, humans will certainly suffer the consequences of it in the future.

  5. Context • In the long term, all of the species in the world, including humankind, will find it hard to survive, not to mention to flourish.

  6. Not to mention • With ABE Shinzo’s(安倍晉三) powerful strategies carried out, Japanese currency is gradually dropping in value, not to mention the accompanied impact - inflation.

  7. Context • Therefore, conserving our endangered species is not simply(not only) about saving beautiful plants and animals. It is actually about saving our planet. -- endangered species: animals that are on the verge of extinction/ will possibly die out / to extinguish

  8. In the long term • to say/ predict something that will be likely to happen in the future • Ex. Taking in antibiotic(抗生素) can cure illness; however, in the long term, it causes damages to your organs.

  9. humankind • (n.)= mankind/ humanity • Ex. The infectious virus has posed considerable threats to humankind, fostering UN to cultivate a health system.

  10. flourish • (v.) to thrive, to prosper • Ex. The economy in Mainland China has flourished in recent years and will heavily alter the political and cultural landscape of the future world.
