The iBlueBot By Walid Mnif, Tamer Shadid, Lim Seang ECE4006 06/24/2003
Project Goals • Primary goal: control an amigo bot using an iPaq through a Bluetooth link • Secondary goal: send feedback from robot and PIC sensors to be displayed on the iPaq
Project Updates • A second PIC board will be added on top of the bot • A USB Bluetooth dongle is used to interface with the iPaq and the converter for testing purposes The amigo bot and PIC USB dongle
Project Progress • Created an elementary GUI on the iPaq using embedded visual C++ • Implemented basic Bluetooth functionality in the GUI using the Btaccess C libraries. • Established a serial link between the iPak and a laptop equipped with the USB dongle • Assembled and tested two PIC boards • Synchronized a PIC board with the bot, and initiated a connection
Issues encountered • Delivery delays • Using 2 UART modules on one Amigo bot • Learning embedded C++ and its libraries to build the GUI • Using the BTAccess library to implement the Bluetooth stack • Increasing the baud rate on the robot • Synchronizing the 2 PICs, the converter and the iPaq to insure continuous communication
