Common reasons for parents contacting school. • Notification of illness and absence. • Request permission for your child to be out of school. • Concern about a pupil’s progress - often after an exam. How can you help your child to settle into school? • Take an interest in the work your child is doing at home. • Set aside a regular time for homework to be done. • Encourage your child to use the Study Planner . • Set aside time for regular learning and revision of subject notes • Let us know if your child has a problem e.g. the homework , a subject, friends, etc.
Encourage them to make new friendships Encourage them to take part in after school activities Encourage good timekeeping and attendance . Get them to report any incidents of bullying straight away If a problem arises encourage them to seek informal advice from Pupil Support staff How can you assist your child to settle into school?
