Rogers was very popular during the 1920’s-1930’s . He was a cowboy philosopher who was also a very successful actor/comedian.
Rogers always kept his audience laughing with his intelligent, yet witty jokes. Will wasn’t like other comedians. He focused on political and economical issues.
Will Rogers was very unique. His comedy relied on facts and brains. Therefore, he was an icon during the 1920s.
Will Rogers had worked at a Dog Iron Ranch for a couple of years already.
He and a friend had left town to work as gauchos in Argentina.
They spent 5 months trying to become ranch owners in the Pampas. They were both successful.
What inspired Rogers to move away from the ranch and become an actor?
Will Rogers was taught by a freed slave how to use a lasso as a tool to work Texas Longhorn cattle on the family ranch.
As he grew older, his roping skills developed, and he was put in the Guinness Book of Records for three lassos in a row.
He later acted in the movie The Ropin Fool and actually performed his ranching talents.
Rogers was born in a mixed Cherokee family and was proud of his Oklahoma roots.
Oklahoma was proud of him as an accomplished actor and writer.
He wrote 6 books, such as Never Met A Man I Didn’t Like. (could not find other 5)
