  2. Why is it the perfect time for Career Academies in HCS? Huntsville City Schools is the national leader in implementation of a full scale digital 1:1 curriculum. We have the largest initiative in the US.

  3. Why is it the perfect time for Career Academies in HCS? We have adopted the Common Core State Standards, which are meant to increase rigor for all students.

  4. Why is it the perfect time for Career Academies in HCS? Alabama Plan 2020 emphasizes building the work force by supporting career readiness.

  5. Key Components of Plan 2020 • Every child is a graduate. • Every child is prepared for college/the workforce/adulthood in the 21st century.

  6. Key Components of Plan 2020 • Graduation Rate: • Alabama Baseline is 65% • Alabama Target for 2020 is 85% • HCS 2012 Graduation Rate was 78% • College and Career Ready with Industry Credentialing: • Alabama Baseline is 18% (11,706) • Alabama Target for 2020 is 40% (18,000)
