  2. Foreknowledge • Greek word “prognosis” • Means to know before • When God reveals to us what will happen before the event, we can have the foreknowledge - 2 Pet. 3:10-18 • Involves certain people • He knew beforehand what group of people would be saved • He chose those in Christ - Eph. 1:3-14

  3. Predestination • Means to decide or determine beforehand • Involves setting criteria in advance • Can predetermine who will attend a school, take a vacation, etc • God predetermined many things regarding salvation • The crucifixion of Jesus as the atonement - Acts 2:22-33; Isa. 53:4-11 • Adoption as sons as the status of the saved - Eph. 1:5, 11 • Eternal life as the reward - Titus 1:1-4 • "Conformed to the image of His Son" as their character - 1 Pet. 2:21

  4. Calling • Invitation through His word - Matt. 11:28-30 • Made through gospel - 2 Thess. 2:13-17 • Can be rejected - Mk. 16:15-16 • Gospel to be preached to all creation • Called are those who accept the invitation

  5. Justification • Has to do with acquittal or removal of guilt • God is calling sinners to be in Christ • Required change so radical it is called “conversion” - 2 Cor. 5:17 • We must repent or turn from our sin - Acts 17:30 • We must replace sinful practices with Godly ones - Eph. 4:17-24; 4:25-5:21 • Can never deserve all we receive - Lk. 17:7-10 • Gods’ mercy fills the void - Tit. 3:3-8; 2:11-14

  6. Glorification • Paul writes of our glorification - Rom. 8:18-25 • Will be glorified like Christ - Phil. 3:20-21
