Attendance Policies Attendance is an important part of school, if your child is not in school he/she is missing important material being taught on that day. This is why we ask that you please try to schedule your appointments after 3pm. When your son/daughter is absent from school, please make sure a note is sent within 2 days of the absence. If the note is not received within 2 days, the absence becomes unexcused. 3 unexcused absences = 1 referral note 10 tardies = 1 referral note 5 early dismissals = 1 referral note After 10 hand written notes have been received by the school for absences the parent will need to provide doctors note for any absences occurring thereafter. After 10 excused absences = 1 referral note for every absence without a doctor note. Excused = a doctor’s note For more detailed information please reference the Parent Handbook on our webpage at www.materelementary.com – parents tab – parent handbook
Early Release Dates Early release is every Wednesday at 1:45pm. Please make sure to pick up your child on time. There will be a fee of $1.00 per minute charged beginning at 2:00pm.
Classroom Management Our classroom uses our Magnificent Behavior chart to track our classroom behavior. Each morning all students begin on green. Once the rules are broken the clips are to be moved as follows: 1st time – student receives a verbal warning. 2nd time – student moves their clip to BLUE. 3rd time – student moves their clip to YELLOW. 4th time – student moves clip to RED and a parent note gets set home. If the behavior continues teacher will have a student/parent/teacher conference. Parents will receive a daily behavior calendar in the students homework folder. Please check this daily and initial in the square for that date.
Class Dojo Our class will also be using the Class Dojo for behavior management in class. This program allows the students to see their behavior through out the day. Parents can also create an account and view their child’s behavior throughout the day.
